The Lumia 550 is more like its expensive siblings apart from the difference in its camera modules at the back but which have more superior build of course. The smartphone feels more solid in the hand and with a good overall feel. The look of the smartphone seems familiar which weighs 142g which has a 4.7-inch screen. One might feel that it looks more identical to Lumia 630 on hand. However, the latter was designed by Nokia and the new Lumia 550 is branded as Microsoft.

The phone features a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top edge and a micro USB port at the bottom for charging and data transfer. The power button provided at the midway point and the volume rocker above toward the right side seems to be a standard issue for Lumia series of phones.

The phone sports a silver Windows logo with a 5MP rear-facing camera and a single LED flash. It has a removable 2100 mAh battery and slots for nano SIM and microSD slots. The front facing camera is of 2 MP along with a brightness sensor. A comfortably sized 4.7 inch screen with high-quality screens are offered making the phone easier to handle in one hand. The screen resolution is of 720p with 312 ppi which makes it a comfortable choice for the retina.

Even though the panel is only of LCD and not AMOLED, it provides a pleasing contrast and display quality overall. The screen looks clear and visible in varying brightness and even in sun light. You could even chose to manually adjust the brightness if required.

On a whole, the Microsoft Lumia 550 is the phone for those who want to balance between price and quality.
