Microsoft cares for its customers and their data security. Hence it has brought the Authenticator App, through which you can have double security for your phone in which you store a lot of private data.

It is a two-step verification which helps you to protect you data from being stolen. It will be difficult for anyone to sign in to your Microsoft Account. It requires two different steps of verification like password and then a contact method. In this way, even if someone gets to know your password, he will not be able to crack it as he may not know your other device or accounts. It is worth mentioning here that one should use different passwords for different accounts.

This app is currently available only on Windows 10 mobile Redstone. But this app is only in beta form yet and is used for internal testing. In some time, the app will allow the users to unlock their Windows 10 PCs through running the Anniversary Update via Bluetooth detection.

To start using the app, you need to install and connect it to your Microsoft Account. The app generates temporary authentication codes to login into your account on the web. For those with Lumia 950 or Lumia 950XL, the app also uses Windows Hello for initial authentication.

Though the two-step verification app (Authenticator app) sound good and is off to a great start, yet there are some issues which need to be taken care of as ‘Settings’.

It is indeed good news for users of Windows 10 mobile Redstone to have double security and need not worry more about their privacy and data security. But for other users, Microsoft has still not revealed whether it will be available or not.
