The Lumia 840 is an upgrade on the Nokia Lumia 830 handset and was announced last year. However, the smartphone has not yet been officially released for the markets. Speculations are also high regarding the unveiling of the first flagship devices from Microsoft: Lumia 950 and 950 XL which is coming up soon.
While rumours doing the rounds last year suggested that Lumia 940 and 940 XL were to be the flagship smartphones, more recent reports point towards 950 and 950 XL as the flagship devices instead. The confusion is likely to remain for a little while longer as the Redmond giants are keeping mum on their flagship plans as of now.
Lumia 830 was one of the more affordable devices with amazing specs and an appealing design that was launched last year. Users of this handset are looking forward to the Windows 10 mobile upgrade. At the same time, those who want to upgrade from their devices can hope to see the Lumia 840 being made available for purchase by the end of 2015. Microsoft is supposedly also working on a successor Lumia 850.

NPU’s report fails to mention any news on the successor of Lumia 730, the Lumia 740, which has been rumoured to be under the wraps as well in recent times. Lumia 730 is also geared up for Windows 10 mobile by the end of this month.
Lumia 840, 950 and 950 XL – all three devices will be coming with on-screen buttons, as supported by the numerous leaks online.
