Did you know that the Windows 10 Mobile OS comes with a built-in frequency equalizer?
Before getting into the details of how to use this EQ, it’s important to note that there’s a lot more to do with EQ than boosting the boss. Boosting EQ bands associated with the instruments can make their sound much louder in the mix whereas cutting the EQ bands could make them fine and more subtle.
One of the primary things to note is that each genre of music has its specific spectrum fingerprint that is generally determined by the musical instruments often pertaining to that certain genre. Following true essence, this means that any EQ setting could work well for classic Jazz music, but may not work so well for heavy bass genres.
Now that you know how to use EQ and what it can do, it’s time you put it to use on the new Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. Note that these steps apply for all Windows 10 Lumia mobiles:
Step#1: Settings -> Extras.
Step#2: Go to Equalizer.
Step#3: Select each of the 6 presents included and listen to how music changes.
Step#4: Select the preset that you like.
Step#5: Manually tweak the EQ to make custom preset changes. (Optional)
